Welcome to My Recipe Cabinet

As a grandmother I find many things have changed through the years. Especially in the cooking. When I started out as a wife and mother, we had no food Processors, Crockpot or microwave. So I feel some of the basics of cooking have been lost. Now I don't profess to be a superb cook. just a the basic cook. My family grew up on my cooking. One day I was visiting my youngest daughter and her family. She was having trouble getting egg whites to beat until stiff. She was using a thing she got from Pampered Chef. She first beat or shook up the egg yolks and then put it the egg whites. Well one of the basic rules in beating egg whites was that no egg yolks were to be in the whites! They just don't work that way. I took one of the cook books I had brought her, thinking it was like the cookbook like I had all those years. Well it wasn't, I could not find any hints on basic rule of cooking. Like the rule of no egg yolk in the whites.

There are other rules in basic cooking, I wonder how many are getting lost in the shuffle. I have thought about making a book on basic cooking rules. I just may add a page to cover just that. Hopefully, I can do this one day. For now I will have some recipes handed down in my family and some given to me by internet friends. I have some scone recipes sent to me from England and a recipe on Pumpkin bread.
