Hi There. My name is
Butterscotch. I remember the first time I saw Mama Shirl. I was in a pet
shop(cruel place). I sat in the cage and looked just like I look here
saying HI. It was love at first site for both of us. The pet shop wanted
$10.00 for me. You have to remember that was in the 1950's and that was a
lot for a cat not papered. Mom had only $3.00 and asked if they would take that
and she could come back tomorrow and get me. Well they did. She came back
the next day and got me. The shop put me in a box and we started for
home.
Mom had to get on a bus. Well I
almost got us kicked off the bus. The bus driver said if Mom did keep the box
closed he would have to have us leave the box. Well Mama put her hand in
the box to pet me and hopefully keep me quiet. I didn't like riding on the bus
then or in cars later either. I really wasn't very quiet... Who would be with
all those strange sounds, smells and a dark box!
When we got home Grandpa almost had
a fit. He said he didn't like cats. Mama talked him into letting her keep
me. Whew!!!!
We had a great life
together. I loved to have my picture taken. When ever I saw a camera, even if it
was on a table I would stop and pose.
Great Grandpa and I got to be great
friends. He had his own chair and walked with a cane. I took over the chair when
ever he wasn't in it. He was the only one who I would let set in it. If anyone
else did I would sit there and growl. I would also give them the how dare you
look.
I lived with Mama for 8
years. I just disappeared one night and guess who drove the streets
looking for me? Grandpa, the one who hated
cats......
These book could be
about me!!! If you are a cat lover they are must reading!!! You will
never think of cats in the same way again.
The Tailchaser's Song
by Tad Williams
Tailchaser, an
orange-and-white striped cat, journeys to find his female friend Hushpad. She,
like many of the other cats, has disappeared and the Folk (cats) are worrried
that something is amiss. Tailchaser realizes the severety of the problem
when he is captured by several large cat-like creatures and forced into slavery
in a subterranean world. Tailchaser's adventures are often violent but always
exciting. Williams has used the language of the animals, both the ``Common
Language'' and the ``Higher Singing,'' but he has included two appendixesa
glossary of terms and a descriptive list of characters. A map showing
Tailchaser's route will also be of great help to readers.
Another must read for

Lilian Jackson
Braun 1916 -
The history of Lilian Jackson Braun
is perhaps as exciting and mysterious as her novels. Between 1966 and 1968, she
published three novels to critical acclaim: The Cat Who Could Read Backwards,
The Cat Who Ate Danish Modern and The Cat Who Turned On and Off. In 1966, The
New York Times labeled Braun, "the new detective of the year." Then, for reasons
unknown, the rising mystery author disappeared from the publishing scene. FOR
EIGHTEEN YEARS!!
It wasn't until 1986 that the
Berkley Publishing Group reintroduced Braun to the public with the publication
of an original paperback, The Cat Who Saw Red. Within two years, Berkeley
released four new novels in paperback and reprinted the three mysteries from the
sixties. Ms. Braun has since published over twenty more "Cat Who..." novels, and
continues writing today. She is 89.
The following list is in the
chronological order of the way the stories unfold. Each book can be read and
enjoyed on its own, but I suggest you start at the beginning. This addicting
series is a must for mystery lovers, cat lovers, or anyone who just loves a good
story. And each book in this series is suitable for any age capable of reading
it. It's the Cat's MEOW!
